High-Paying Gig Apps That Aren't Food Delivery

  • Published on March 12

We all know Doordash, Instacart, and the like. These are great apps, with fairly decent earning opportunities for drivers. However, if you’re looking for alternative gig apps beyond food and grocery delivery, here’s some apps you need to check out.

Curri

If you're seeking a departure from standard food and grocery deliveries, Curri offers a unique opportunity. Curri specializes in the transportation of construction and industrial supplies, providing a niche opportunity for drivers with an aptitude for hauling bulkier materials. To become a Curri driver, you'll need to be at least 18 years old and possess a valid form of identification (TIN, SSN, or EIN).  Your vehicle, the workhorse that will carry these essential supplies, must be insured and registered. Finally, Curri conducts background checks to ensure a safe and reliable work environment for all.

FRAYT

FRAYT connects drivers with businesses that require the shipment of their goods. Drivers on FRAYT enjoy the freedom to set their own schedules and can expect to earn on average $20-30 per hour.  Hitting the road with FRAYT is relatively straightforward. All you need is a valid driver's license, proof of personal auto insurance, and a smartphone with internet access. If you plan on using a cargo or sprinter van, FRAYT requires the vehicle to be under 10,000 GVW and at least a 2002 model year to ensure it can handle the deliveries effectively.

AxelHire

Another excellent option is AxelHire! When driving for AxelHire, you'll have the freedom to pick routes that fit your schedule and know the exact payout before you even begin. No more wondering how much you'll make after a delivery!  To get started with AxelHire, you'll need a registered vehicle with ample space to accommodate packages.  Proof of insurance is a must, and drivers must be at least 21 years old.

Metrobi

Metrobi connects local businesses with on-demand drivers in major US cities. Deliveries range from beverages and flowers to a variety of other goods. Metrobi claims that many of their drivers earn more than $1200 weekly, though earnings depend heavily on delivery volume.  Currently, Metrobi requires a larger vehicle like a cargo van, SUV, minivan, or box truck to handle the deliveries. Sedans and pick-up trucks are not accepted at this time.  Drivers must be at least 21 years old and possess a smartphone with internet access.  In addition to the standard driver's license, Metrobi conducts background checks to maintain a safe and secure platform.

Fetch Package

Looking for a delivery gig with a twist? Fetch Package specializes in deliveries to apartment communities. Drivers for Fetch decide what shifts they want to work and are guaranteed a payout for each route, ensuring transparency in earnings.  To join the Fetch team, you'll need a properly insured and registered vehicle, be it a sedan, truck, van, or cargo van.  They also require drivers to have a smartphone (either iPhone or Android) to keep up with deliveries and stay connected.

Veho

Veho allows drivers to deliver small packages along routes they choose. Partners enjoy schedule flexibility and upfront knowledge of route pay. Simply select your route, head to the Veho warehouse to pick up packages, and you're ready to go!  However, Veho does have stricter requirements compared to some other apps.  Veho requires drivers to be at least 25 years old and have a larger sedan or SUV. Proof of insurance is a must, along with providing information for a background check and tax purposes.  If you plan on using a pickup truck, Veho requires a hardcover for the truck bed to ensure the safe transport of packages.

GoShare

Goshare connects businesses and individuals with drivers for a wider range of tasks, including deliveries, hauling, assembly, and courier work. They offer deliveries of various products, from auto parts to medical supplies.  To become a Goshare driver, your vehicle must be a 2002 model year or newer.  Drivers must be at least 18 years old and speak English fluently to communicate effectively with clients.  A smartphone compatible with the Goshare app is required to receive job notifications and manage deliveries.  Background checks are mandatory to ensure a safe and trustworthy environment for everyone on the platform.  In terms of finances, drivers musthave a checking account for direct deposit and possess a valid driver's license. Finally, Goshare requires drivers to meet their state's minimum insurance requirements to ensure all parties involved are protected on the road.

In the ever-expanding gig economy, opportunities abound beyond traditional food and grocery delivery. These apps offer diverse options, from transporting industrial supplies to specialized apartment community deliveries. With flexibility, transparency, and safety at the forefront, there's a perfect fit for every driver's aspirations. Explore these alternatives and chart your course for success in the gig economy!
