Job Description
About Capital City Mobility
Capital City Mobility is a local last-mile delivery company operating on the GoFo delivery platform in the Detroit metro area. We handle small parcel routes generated through the GoFo network and focus on organized, fixed routes – not food delivery or rideshare – so drivers know what to expect each day.
We are hiring 1099 Independent Delivery Drivers across Detroit and nearby areas: Southfield, Dearborn, Warren, Livonia, Redford, Oak Park, and surrounding suburbs.
Position: Independent Delivery Driver (1099)
Platform: Routes are generated through the GoFo network
Service area: Detroit and surrounding metro cities (no out-of-town travel)
Apply at: https://apply.capitalcitymobility.com
What you’ll do
- Pick up pre-sorted small packages from our Detroit-area hub.
- Run a pre-planned route in a compact delivery area (no bouncing all over the state).
- Safely deliver packages to homes and businesses using a mobile app for navigation and proof of delivery.
- Communicate with dispatch if you run into issues on the route.
How pay works (fixed routes, not per package)
We use fixed route pay so you always know what a route pays before you start. Each route has an approximate number of stops and a flat rate:
- Starter route: about 40 stops – $60 flat
- Lite route: about 80 stops – $120 flat
- Core route: about 110 stops – $170 flat
- Max route: about 140 stops – up to ~$220 flat (when available)
Most new drivers start on a Starter or Lite route, then move up as they prove they can run clean routes and show up consistently.
This is per-route pay, not instant or “same-day” pay. Earnings are based on the routes you complete and are paid on a regular payout schedule.
Bonus program (consistency + retention)
In addition to route pay, we track a per-stop bonus bank for each driver:
- New drivers (0–6 months): $0.05 per completed stop, paid out every 60 days if you meet attendance and quality standards.
- Established drivers (6+ months): $0.10 per completed stop, paid out every 30 days.
This bonus is designed to reward consistency and also act as a buffer if a justified claim happens, so one bad day doesn’t wipe out a whole paycheck. Clean drivers see regular bonuses; drivers with repeated issues won’t.
Schedule & flexibility
- 1099 contractor role – you are self-employed, not a W-2 employee.
- You tell us your available days, and we offer routes on those days.
- Routes are built to stay in one zone / one general area, not multiple far-apart cities.
- Good fit for drivers who want steady, repeatable routes instead of random on-demand gigs.
Vehicle & requirements
- Reliable personal vehicle (sedan, hatchback, small SUV, or similar).
- Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
- Smartphone capable of running delivery/routing apps.
- Able to comfortably lift and carry up to 30 lbs (most packages are much lighter).
Who this is a good fit for
- Current or former gig drivers (DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, Amazon Flex, etc.) who want more predictable routes and pay.
- Drivers in Detroit, Southfield, Dearborn, Warren, Livonia, and nearby suburbs who prefer working close to home.
- People who like structured work, being on time, and keeping issues/claims low.
How to apply (important)
To be considered quickly, do not only apply through ZipRecruiter.
