Job Description
Important: This is not a direct position with the United States Postal Service. You will not be employed by USPS. This opportunity is through a private transportation company that contracts to transport mail for the Postal Service.
Schedule and Compensation
- Monday through Saturday
- 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or until all mail and packages are delivered
- Pay ranges from $150 to $200 per day, depending on if car is provided
- Independent contractor position (1099)
Position Responsibilities
- Safely transport mail between designated postal facilities and route locations
- Follow an established daily route and schedule
- Load, unload, and properly secure mail containers and equipment
- Arrive on time for every scheduled pickup and delivery
- Complete required trip documentation accurately
- Maintain communication regarding delays, vehicle issues, or route concerns
- Follow all safety, security, and postal transportation requirements
- Maintain professional conduct while on postal property
Contractor Requirements
- Must provide and maintain their own reliable vehicle for the route
- Vehicle must have at least 120 cubic feet of usable cargo space, typically a cargo van or similar vehicle
- Contractor is responsible for vehicle maintenance, fuel, insurance, registration, and other operating expenses
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass all required background checks and screenings
- Must be dependable and take attendance and punctuality seriously
- Must be able to lift, push, and move mail containers as required
- Must be comfortable working independently without constant supervision
- Must have a working cell phone and reliable communication
- Previous delivery, courier, transportation, or route-driving experience is preferred
This is a time-sensitive mail transportation route. Calling out, arriving late, or failing to complete the route can interrupt postal operations. Please apply only if you are serious, dependable, and prepared to consistently meet the route schedule.
